First Prize 2018 Student competition “A gateway into the Mersey” - University of Central Lancashire - Maryam Al-Irhayim (United Kingdom)

PRIX VERSAILLES | 2018 STUDENT COMPETITION

Based on the conviction that heritage conservation is compatible with urban renewal and development, this student idea competition was to contribute to reflections on how the port wasteland can be redeveloped to meet the current and projected needs of the city and to optimize the potential of Liverpool without undermining the Outstanding Universal Value of this World Heritage Site protected by the 1972 World Heritage Convention and guided by the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention.

Recognizing the importance of football to the identity of Liverpool, the participants were invited to include ideas for a new stadium in the context of a sensitive urban design for this exceptional city of global importance.
